How do I check the surf?
Look out the window!
Our consistent homebreak Valdoviño is situation in front of our house. Just suit up, wax up, grab your board and get in the water! Within just a half hour drive, there are 16 spots in this area of Galicia, thanks to the undulating coastline of this part of Spain. These spot offer options for when the wind/swell/tide is not optimal at the homebreak.
Surf transport is available when homebreak is not working well, or if the surf forecast is suggesting a better option in the Ferrolterra region. We try our best to plan our surf excursion ahead of time based on surf forecast and group motivation. But quite often, plans change, and we will make a spontaneous move to surf check one of the local waves. As there are only 8 spots in the bus, booking surf transport is recommended.
When we set out to surf a different spot, we will pack the van with our boards together, leave together and come home together. Things to bring include water, sun protection, snacks and a towel. Surf excursion generally last 2-3 hours, and some of the spots offer beach bars, like Pantín, Doniños and San Jorge. Packing a lunch is not necessary, but we can make a pit stop at the supermarket and fill up the cooler with food!
Renting a car gives you the option to explore the coastline and hit up spots on your own schedule! Rental cars are available from Ferrol, or directly from La Coruna or Santiago de Compostela when you arrive by flight!
